◆On March 27th, the second Nuclear Security Summit opened in Seoul with the aim of building a consensus on nuclear security among the international community.
◆Leaders from over 50 nations and international organizations reviewed achievements scored since the Washington summit in 2010. Chinese President Hu Jintao was among the world leaders in attendance.
◆The Chinese leader will seek to elaborate on China’s nuclear security policies and the nation’s efforts toward improving safety.
◆Since the Fukushima nuclear accident, countries with nuclear facilities have been particularly cautious, stepping up disaster-resistance measures and exercised extreme caution in planning new nuclear plants.
