BIT School of Design and Arts inaugurates its European education base

The School of Design and Arts at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) held an inauguration ceremony for its European Design Education Practice Base in Turin, Italy, on May 12.

Yao Liangjun, consul for Education and Technology at the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Milan, expressed his hope that the base would become a high-level platform for future Sino-Italian design exchanges.

Fan Xianwei, secretary-general of the Italy-China Chamber of Commerce, introduced the basic situation and service objectives of the chamber at the event. Fan expressed his desire to increase cooperation between the chamber and the BIT School of Design and Arts, hoping that Sino-Italian design education and industry cooperation would be accelerated after the completion of the base.

Yang Jianming, dean of the BIT School of Design and Arts, said that the completion of the practice base in Turin, Italy, would further enhance cross-regional and cross-cultural exchanges and cooperation in design education between China and Italy, as well as between China and Europe, promoting the deep integration of design education and industry.

Mohd'Juma Eid, a visiting professor at the BIT School of Design and Arts, spoke of Turin's rich artistic and cultural atmosphere and abundant design resources, expressing his hope that the base would become a high-level platform for future design practice education, promoting friendly cooperation and development between China and Italy in design.

Assistant dean Sun Bowen, chair of the meeting, provided detailed information on the construction of the base and its future development plans.

After the meeting, the unveiling ceremonies for the European Design Practice Education Base, the Sino-Italian Innovative Design International Joint Laboratory, and the Postdoctoral Workstation were held.
