Beijing Institute of Technology, June 30th, 2020:On June 26, He Shaoming, a teacher of School of Aerospace Engineering of BIT, was awarded Lord Kings Norton Medal by Cranfield University. This is the first time the medal has been awarded to a Chinese student since its establishment in 1978. The Lord Kings Norton Medal is the highest prize awarded to one student annually for outstanding academic, research, teaching and service.

　　He Shaoming graduated his PhD from Cranfield University in September 2019. In February 2020, he joined the team of Professor Lin Defu, and is hired as an associate professor of School of Aerospace Engineering. He is mainly engaged in vehicle guidance, multi-target tracking and deciding, and artificial intelligence application in aerospace research direction, the constraint conditions around the optimal guidance of low cost and complex environment of multi-target tracking, and other areas of the frontier basic common key science and technology issues, conduct research, and achieved a series of original research. During his doctoral period, he was deeply involved in the core projects of European Defense Agency, Korean Defense Agency and other scientific research institutions as the technical director. He has also published more than 20 papers as the first author/corresponding author in top journals of aerospace, such as AIAA JGCD, IEEE TAES, IEEE TRO, IEEE TAC, etc. He also published a monograph on aircraft guidance in Springer; 3 national invention patents authorized; He is a core member of the ABU Dhabi International Robot Competition champion "Flying Eagle" team and has been selected into the youth Talent Promotion Program of the China Association for Science and Technology in 2020.

　　Cranfield University, founded in 1946, is a research university and the only university in Europe with its own airport. It has a high academic reputation in the field of aerospace, ranking 39th in the world in QS 2019 for "Machinery, Aviation and Manufacturing Technology", and the 1st in the UK for aerospace engineering.
