On the afternoon of April 16, Academician Kalmykov, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, Li Hezhang, President of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, and First Vice President Ivanchenko and a delegation of six people visited BIT. Academician Long Teng, the president of BIT, met with the delegation in Room 237 of Office Building 2.

Long Teng extended a warm welcome to Kalmykov and his delegation. He stressed that Shenzhen MSU-BIT University is a high-level university established by the two heads of state through an important consensus, which has developed rapidly in recent years and has a clear future plan, creating a model of Chinese-foreign cooperation in higher education. As a partner of the university, BIT attaches great importance to the development of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University, and looks forward to continuously working with Moscow State University to jointly promote the high-quality connotative development of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. He pointed out that, firstly, the substantive implementation of the joint scientific research center should be promoted to support experts from both sides to jointly apply for national-level scientific research cooperation projects. Secondly, the construction of high-quality faculty should be promoted, and it is expected that MSU can continue sending high-level talent teams to Shenzhen MSU-BIT University for long-term work. Thirdly, in-depth exchanges and interaction between Chinese and Russian scholars should be promoted, to further deepen the cooperation between the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Engineering. Fourthly, the joint cultivation of compound talents should be encouraged, to promote the joint cultivation of high-quality elite talents by BIT, MSU, and Shenzhen MSU-BIT University through various forms, including student mutual visits, academic exchanges, and themed activities. Finally, he warmly welcomed the visit of Academician Sadovnich, President of MSU, to BIT and Shenzhen MSU-BIT University one day.

Kalmykov expressed his heartfelt thanks to BIT for its support to the development of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. He said that the school is deploying and implementing various tasks in accordance with the resolution of the tripartite joint meeting, and will hold its first in-person board meeting in late April. He said that the next step of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was to focus on discipline construction, talent training, scientific research, school publicity, international cooperation and other aspects to further improve the school's level. Firstly, the layout of disciplines should be further enriched and the scale of enrollment should be expanded. Secondly, the construction of scientific research should be continuously strengthened by endeavoring to introduce academicians and corresponding academicians of related disciplines of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Russian Academy of Sciences has already been ready to deeply participate in and support Shenzhen MSU-BIT University. Thirdly, the school's global visibility and social influence should be enhanced constantly through a series of activities such as global discipline competitions and knowledge, science and cultural festivals. Fourthly, the in-depth cooperation among Shenzhen MSU-BIT University and other high-level universities in Russia and top universities in other Russian-speaking countries should be expanded. Kalmykov looked forward to continuing to work with BIT to promote the development and construction of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University.

During the visit, the first "Shenzhen MSU-BIT University-BIT-MSU" Innovation and Technology Youth Forum was held on campus. More than 80 experts and scholars from the three universities participated in the forum. On behalf of the BIT and the MSU, Long Teng and Sadovnych delivered video messages at the opening ceremony respectively, and Kalmekov delivered a keynote speech entitled "Scientific Infrastructure Construction and Breakthrough Research Directions in Russia". In the sub-forum, young scholars from the three disciplines of materials, chemistry and biology gave academic reports, and unfolded academic interaction and sharing on cutting-edge research achievements in related fields. The success of this forum can strengthen the communicstion within young scholars from the three universities and promote the formation of diversified substantive cooperation. At the same time, t the first forum provides a good opportunity to explore the establishment and improvement of a closer mechanism for scientific research cooperation, constantly optimize the mode of holding the forum, expand the scope of disciplinary exchanges, build a platform for scientific research and innovation cooperation, and encourage scholars from the three universities to make full use of the policy support from Beijing and Shenzhen to cooperate in scientific research and innovation, technological breakthroughs, and achievements transformation, thus a normal scientific research and academic communication mechanism can be formed among the three universities.
