“6G Communication System”

The goal of 5G is to penetrate all areas of society and build an information ecosystem with the user at the center. However, limited by the time ofstandardizationand the maturity of the development of related technologies, there are still many shortcomings in the spatial depth and breadth of information interaction. As the range of user activities increases and the performance requirements of communication systems increase, communication systems need to have higher peak rates, higher energy efficiency and the ability to connect to users anywhere and at any time. As a result, many scholars have started to investigate 6G communication system. 6G has a variety of key technologies including Terahertz communication, Space-Air-Ground-Sea integrated communication and AI-based wireless communication. Terahertz communication uses a new frequency band between microwave and optical waves, with the advantages of abundant spectrum resources and high transmission rates, and has broad application prospects in high-speed short-range broadband wireless communication, broadband wireless secure access and space communication. Space-Air-Ground-Sea integrated communication is based on the traditional cellular network with satellite communication and deep sea and ocean communication respectively, greatly expanding the coverage and depth of communication. AI-based wireless communication has been researched mainly by introducing AI, especially deep learning idea, into the field of wireless resource management to achieve significant performance improvement in communication system.

However, the research of each candidate key technology is still in the preliminary exploration stage, and there are still many unresolved technical issues. This special issue aims to collect and highlight outstanding contributions of key technologies in 6G, as well as their latest applications in relevant scenarios.


We invite you to submit the most recent advancements in (but not limited to) the following topics:

● New spectrum communication technology, e.g. Terahertz communication, etc.

Resource allocation, mobility management, interference management for 6G Communication

Secure and intelligent blockchain for 6G communication system

Software-defined networking, network function virtualization, network slicing for 6G communication system

Novel multiple access techniques in 6G communications, such as SCMA, NOMA, PDMA, etc.

AI-based wireless communication (Deep Learning, Reinforcement Learning, etc.)

Energy efficiency, spectral efficiency in 6G communication system.

Space-air-ground-sea integrated communication

Key technologies for Intelligent Reflecting Surface (channel modeling, channel estimation, resource management, etc.)

Information theory and coding applicable to 6G communication system

Technique reviews on the related topics
