    The School of Mechanical Engineering at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT, //www.frunetbio.com/) invites applications for 20 full-time faculty positions. Opportunities exist at all levels.     Holding a Ph.D. degree in a related field, a successful candidate must have a strong background in engineering/science fundamentals, preferably in vehicle engineering, powering engineering, manufacturing engineering, physics, materials, and optics and an aptitude for excellence in teaching. He/she is expected to establish an externally sponsored research program and teach graduate/undergraduate courses, as well as supervise M.S. and Ph.D. students.

    The Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a leading public university with a traditional focus on science and technology, located in Beijing, China. Founded in 1940s, BIT has been a first-tier top research university in China. It is one of the first of 15 Chinese universities to run a graduate school and received privileged funding from the Chinese government in “the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Five-Year Plans.” BIT is also one of the first universities supported under “Project 211”, “Project 985”, “Double First-rate”, which are given priority for development by the Chinese government, the Ministry of Education and the Beijing Municipality. It is now under the administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.

    The School of Mechanical Engineering is one of the largest schools of BIT, having 314 staff, 1792 graduate and 1920 undergraduate students, as well as 8 Teaching and Practice Center for education, 4 state-level key laboratories and 6 ministerial level laboratories for research, with annual research expenditures in excess of RMB300M (about $47M). According to theChina Discipline Ranking, conducted by the research center affiliated with the China Ministry of Education, Mechanical Engineering at BIT is ranked the first 2%-5% in the nation.
