Welcome Address

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to cordially invite you to participate the Joint International Conference of The 2^ndInternational Symposium on Experimental Mechanics, The 11^thAsian Conference on Experimental Mechanics, 2012 Society for Experimental Mechanics Fall Conference and 7^thInternational Symposium in Advanced Science and Technology in Experimental Mechanics. The 1^stInternational Symposium on Experimental Mechanics (ISEM) and The 1^stAsian Conference on Experimental Mechanics (ACEM) were held in Taipei from December 28-30, 2002. In the past nine years, the ACEM has been successfully held in various countries in Asia, Japan (2003), Singapore (2004), India (2005), Korea (2006), Japan (2007), China (2008), Singapore (2009), Malaysia (2010) and Japan (2011). It returns to Taiwan this year. The 1^stSociety for Experimental Mechanics (SEM) Fall Conference held outside the United States was in Edinburgh, United Kingdom in August, 2011. The British Society for Strain Measurement was the co-host. We are very happy to co-host the 2^ndSEM Fall Conference held outside the United States in Taiwan in 2012. Furthermore, the 7^thInternational Symposium in Advanced Science and Technology in Experimental Mechanics (7^thISEM’12-Taipei) organized by the Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics (JSEM) will join this year’s Joint Conference.

The primary purpose of the Joint Conference is to provide an international forum for academics and practitioners to promote, exchange and disseminate knowledge and experience of new developments in the field of experimental mechanics. Further enhancement of friendship among researchers and engineers from various countries are also surely achieved in this symposium.

Taiwan is a beautiful island, while Taipei is one of the top business and tourist destinations in Asia. People here are friendly and hospitable. You can be sure that you will enjoy your stay in Taiwan
