Introduction to the keynote speaker:

Shan Yuli, Ph.D., graduated from the University of East Anglia (UK) and Fudan University, is currently a researcher at the University of Birmingham in the UK, and once worked at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. He is a highly cited scholar in the world (selected as "KoruiVian Global Highly cited Scholar" and "2% of the world's top scientists" for three consecutive years), a partner of the sixth evaluation report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the first overseas executive director of the National Input, Output and Big Data Research Association, etc. He has won more than ten academic honors, such as the "National Outstanding Non-public Scholarship" in China and the "Green Elite Award" in Germany, He also served as editor of Scientific Data, Applied Energy, Journal of Cleaner Production and other journals.

Dr. Shan Yuli's research combines multiple fields of natural science and social science, focusing on carbon emission accounting, regional sustainable development, climate change economics, etc. His research results provide basic data support for the management practices of governments at all levels in terms of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. More than 100 SCI/SSCI papers have been published in the top academic journals at home and abroad, such as CNS sub-journal, Science Bulletin, National Science Review, among which 15 were selected as ESI hot papers and 24 were selected as ESI highly cited papers. The paper has been positively cited for nearly 10000 times, with the H index of 42, and has been reported by many media at home and abroad, including China International Television, Xinhua News Agency, Reuters, Financial Times, etc. Since its launch in 2016, the China Carbon Emissions Database CEADs, which it participated in, has registered more than 17000 users, downloaded 400000 times a year and been used by more than 800 research papers.

Introduction to the report:

Greenhouse gas emissions caused by human activities are profoundly changing the Earth's environment and accelerating global climate change. In the past two decades, anthropogenic emissions from developing countries, especially China, have continued to increase, becoming a research hotspot in the international academic community and a focus of multinational climate negotiations. Low-carbon development is an inevitable choice under the current global climate change background, and also a major strategic opportunity to promote the high-quality development of China's economy and lead the global climate change-related affairs. In recent years, China has continuously improved its national independent contribution and adopted more effective emission reduction policies and measures to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. In this context, it is of great significance to establish a carbon emission accounting method system that conforms to China's characteristics and is internationally recognized, scientifically quantify anthropogenic emissions, accurately identify the socio-economic driving force of carbon emissions, and explore the path of green and low-carbon development for the realization of China's carbon peak, carbon neutrality goals, and even the global temperature control goals.
