At 4:00 pm on January 5, 2022, Meng Jing, associate professor of the Bartlett School of Sustainable Architecture, University College London, and member of the Cambridge Centre for Environment, Energy and Natural Resource Governance (C-EENRG), University of Cambridge, was invited to visit and gave a speech entitled "Climate Change" An academic report on innovation with low-carbon technologies. The report was chaired by researcher Zhang Bin, and teachers and students from the School of Management and Economics participated in the report.

Associate Professor Meng Jing is currently the deputy editor-in-chief of the SCI journal Journal of Cleaner Production and the deputy editor-in-chief of the SSCI journal Economia Politica. He has published many papers in journals such as Nature Geoscience, Nature Communications, Nature Climate Change, PNSA, One Earth, etc. He was named Clarivate Analytics' "Highly Cited Scientist" in 2020 and 2021, won the 2020 Emerging Sustainable Development Leader Award, and the Nature Communications Top 50 Earth and Planetary Science Paper Award.

Reasonable forecasting of low-carbon energy technology innovation and costs is critical to the energy transition. At present, the forecasting of technology costs is mainly divided into expert forecasting and model forecasting. Associate Professor Meng Jing’s research has collected historical data and expert forecasting data of low-carbon technologies for energy system transformation, and forecasts based on improved four transparent model methods. future low-carbon technology costs and trends. Secondly, a detailed comparison is made between the results predicted by industry experts and the four models and the actual cost data, and the effects of different prediction methods are analyzed and corrected. Finally, forecasting different technology paths to 2030 has important policy implications for accounting for the cost of future carbon neutral paths. After the speech, everyone conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on the content of the report.
