Topic: Shrinking or Expanding Market? The Asia-Pacific Region and the Fate of LNG

Time: 9:30 am, April 20th (Friday)

  Location: 6F, Main BLD

  Speaker: Dr. Hooman Peimani

  Brief introduction:

LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) has experienced a "golden age" thanks to a growing global demand for gas. Its success has been especially due to its availability as the only type of gas to its top consumers, eg, Japan and South Korea, accounting For about half of the global demand for LNG. The Asia-Pacific region, in particular, has accounted for the bulk of this demand (around 70%). The ongoing shift in this region's pattern of energy consumption and the increasing availability of piped gas Will end of the LNG's “golden age”, added to a declining factor of consumption, in some other regions. Despite predictable lowering demand as production capacity is increasing will ensure abundance of supplies and keep LNG prices relatively low in The foreseeable future.
